With the aim of extending relations and decision of the main problems of integration of ATU into the international educational space in October 2001 at university at the Management of Informational Technologies and International Relations the Management of Foreign Affairs, Information and Informational Infrastructure (order № 12-7-196 from 04.10.2001) was formed, which was reorganized in 2003 into Department of International Relations (order № 12-8-404 from 24.11.2003). The forming of new department allows extending remarkably the directions and forms of international cooperation.
The Department of international relations consists of 5 members: the chief of the department is the candidate of chemical sciences Sergazieva Asem Bahitzhanovna, the deputy chief is the candidate of biological sciences Haidarova Zhanat Safarzhanovna, leading experts are Kabataeva Raushan Sarsembekovna, interpreter is Omarova Sholpan Bekmuratovna. International cooperation, which is developed at the University as one of the priority directions, promotes the decision of main problems of the University’s activity – preparation of specialists and scientific research work.
The activity of ATU in the field of international cooperation is directed to preparation of specialists with higher and postgraduate vocational education, participation in elaboration of syllabus in the sphere of bachelor, master and Ph.D and scientific research on ATU profile, studying of ATU students abroad and foreigners at ATU, organization of training abroad of the University’s faculty and invitation of leading foreign scientists for teaching and exchange of experience, strengthening material base of the University at the expense of the technical and financial help from international funds and organizations. At present time 75 students from China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tadzhikistan and Russia study at ATU.
Cooperation with higher educational institutions and scientific centers of countries of far and near abroad
During the last 10 years ATU has been fruitfully cooperating with higher educational institutions and educational centers of countries of far and near abroad. So, from 1996 till 2007 the University has made bilateral agreements about cooperation with more than 40 universities, institutes, colleges and scientific centers of Asia, Europe, the USA and the countries of the CIS. The most stable and perspective interrelations are the contacts with the following partners of the universities of far abroad: Andong National University, Kumi College (The Republic of Korea), Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Greenwich, Center of Distant Management (Great Britain), Larenstein University of vocational training (the Netherlands), Saitama Institute of technology (Japan), Gebze Institute of technologies (Turkey), Xinjiang Agricultural University, the Center of scientific, technical and economic information of Central Asia (China), Nebraska Institute of agriculture and natural resources (USA).
During the last years the University established international contacts in the field of scientific research with food department of the University of applied science (Switzerland), Institute of food technologies (Great Britain), Plovdiva University of agriculture (Bulgaria), Ak Deniz Agricultural University (Turkey), Boras University (Sweden), Technical University of Berlin (FRG), Otto Fridrih University (Germany), Texas University (USA).
ATU fruitfully cooperates with universities of countries of the CIS. For example, with the leading institutions of Russia: Moscow State University of food products, Moscow State University of design and technologies, Moscow State University of applied biotechnology, Moscow State Kosigin University of textile, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg State University of technologies and design, Russia State Pedagogical Gertsen University (St. Petersburg), Tomsk Polytechnic University, Kemerovo Technological Institute of food industry, All-Russia Scientific research Gorbatov Institute of meat industry and also with universities of other countries of Commonwealth: Kirgiz Agricultural Skryabin University, Kirgiz Technical Razzakov University (Kirgizstan), Tashkent Institute of textile and light industry (Uzbekistan).
Usage of computer technologies makes it possible to introduce contemporary programs and methods of teaching into educational process and those methods make the educational process more transparent, open the access to the world source of information for students, give new opportunities for creative work, appropriation and strengthening of professional skills using great international experience. In this direction ATU improved contacts with London Center of Distant Education (Great Britain) and made an agreement about cooperation.
ATU contacts with international organizations
Cooperation of ATU with international organizations was activated since 2002 till 2006. The University is a member of Central Asia Fund of Management (CAMAN), Consortium EdNet, which during 5 years gives the opportunity for teachers to use the resources of international educational net of business education, improve the level of its teaching, participate in seminars and summer schools.
ATU is a member of International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE). 6 students from Yugoslavia, Ireland, Czechia, Germany and Switzerland had a practice at our University. In 2006 7 students of ATU went to production practice to Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Poland. The works on developing the contacts with American Council of cooperation in the field of education and learning languages (ACCELS), American Council of international researches and exchanges (IREX), British Council in Kazakhstan, German Service of academic exchange (DAAD), International Israel Consulting Center “MASHAV” are in progress. In particularly, jointly the Association of Jewish communities of Kazakhstan the students of ATU participated in the youth project “STARS”.
At the period from 2000 till 2006 contacts with “Soros-Kazakhstan” fund, corporative fund “Bilim-Central Asia”, Islamic Bank of developing was developed. In the further we are planning to improve more close scientific contacts with USA Agency of international developing (USAID), United Nations Organization on questions of education, science and culture (UNESCO), informational service of USA Embassy (USIS), Association of contribution to cooperation with scientists of CIS (INTAS).
With the aim of improving the quality of education of students who have gone abroad on international programs the consulting contacts with Embassies of South Korea, Japan, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Mongolia, India and Pakistan have been established. The works with different programs of embassies are in progress: programs of grants of Japan government, educational grants of French Embassy, Israel, Germany and other. In 2003 ATU became the owner of grants on Program of Japan Government “Roots of grass”. As it is shown from international activity of ATU the perspective is attraction of investments of foreign partners for making joint educational and applied programs.
Graduates and students of ATU are the owners of scholarships of International Program of President of RK “Bolashak”. The owner of scholarship of 2003 Nurzhanov M.N. was abroad on practice on specialty “Apparatus and equipment of food products” and Ongar Toti (2003-2005) was on master course of Dresden Technical University (FRG) on specialty “Textile sciences”. At present time since September 2006 she is studying at Ph.D of that university. In 2005 28 students legalized documents, 2 of them are Turapbekova A. and Shokanova A. who won in the competitive selection and at present time are studying on master course of Andong National University on specialty “Engineering sciences in the field of processing industry” (South Korea).
In 2006 5 students of ATU were sent for training by international program “Bolashak” on bachelor course: Moldahmetova Indira on specialty “Textile sciences” (Czehia), Opabekova Nargiz on specialty “Proceesing of agricultural products” (Great Britain), Saalieva Sayara on specialty “Processing of agricultural products” (Great Britain), Sultan Meruert and Risdauletova Asel on specialty “Engineering science in the field of industry/textile industry” (Singapur) and the graduate of ATU 2006 Abilgaziev Sirim for training on master course on specialty “Biotechnology, gene engineering in the field of plant growing, animal husbandry and food industry” (MIT, USA).
