On the basis of the rector Kulazhanov K.S. order #12-2-53 from September 12, 2007 there was organized attestation work by the expert team inside ATU subdivisions and training specialties. Also graduate course students undergone testing in September 2007.
After listening to the information given by the vice-rector on academic and international affairs Zhussupova K.A. “The results of the ATU self attestation work,” the Academic Council remarks that after the State attestation of ATU (order of MES RK #864 from December 12,2002), the University has done considerable work for improving teaching educational process, providing quality to training specialists, increasing effectiveness of research and international cooperation, achieving results in academic, instructive and educational work.
There have been created academic method base, system of current grading of students’ achievements and final evaluation of knowledge in accordance with the rating system and testing methods. Credit system of teaching, distant form of teaching, PhD program are being implemented in ATU, material technical base is expanding and strengthening. For the period of 2004-2007 there have been changes in the arrangement of the university activity, its structure caused by the need to reorganize departments, to extend educational units. Great attention is paid to the method support and provision of the teaching process and its computerization.
ATU is the basic higher institution, which has teaching instructive section of RTIC. Author team comprised from the members of ATU teaching staff took an active part in the elaboration of the state standards for higher vocational education, bachelor and master’s program, standard programs for food technology specialties, preparation and publishing textbooks and teaching aids.
Leading role in preparing highly qualified staff able to realize priority trends in science and technology is attached to the scientific work There exist favorable conditions for fruitful work of the professor- teaching staff for completing doctor’s and candidate theses, there is magistrate, postgraduate, doctorate, dissertation council for defending thesis.
D14.61.17. on specialties 05.18.01, 05.18.04, 05.18.12.(specialties of food branch); candidate dissertation – K 14.63.02 on specialties 05.19.02 and 05.19.04( specialties of light industry). Only for the last few years scientists of ATU have defended 37 dissertations: doctor –2, candidates –25, ATU has got 77 patents and pre patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There have been published1320 scientific works, monographs, textbooks, teaching aids. In 2001-2005 there were being executed 37 initiative research projects from which 6 were funded by the state budget. By 2007 there had been prepared over 50 innovational projects for commercial purposes in various fields of industry.
Library fund and computer base is regularly expanding, there is an access to the global nets, automated management system of education “Tamos University Suite” and integrated distant system of teaching for correspondence learners are being introduced.
Also Academic Council remarks that there are drawbacks at the university. Some departments are not equipped enough, paper work in the state language should be given more priority and library fund needs to be completed by the literature in state language, there’s decrease in the number of doctors and candidates of sciences, there’re no funded scientific grants.
As for upbringing work we need to activate patriotic aspect, also to advocate healthy way of life, to attract more students to the scientific research work.
On the basis of the said above the Academic Council states:
1. To consider that the University is fulfilling its main role and mission- training specialists for processing, food, textile and light branches of industry on the level corresponding to the requirements of the general mandatory standards of higher education.
2. To confirm and submit the reference on final self attestation of the university and the specialties on which training is conducted to the Committee of supervision and attestation in the sphere of education and science of the MES RK.
